Conditions to obtain a class 5 from the SAAQ (passenger vehicle or light truck)
You need:
- Age minimum to begin course: 15 Years, 11 months. If you are a minor, you need to obtain a written authorization of the person responsible for you (parent, guardian, etc.)
You must have in your possession two pieces of Government issued identification: a Canadian birth certificate (original only), a valid Canadian passport, a proof of Canadian citizenship or your certificate of the legal admission to Canada, a medical insurance or your social security card.
With this permit, you can also drive:

A standard vehicle (automobile or small van) or all truck of which the net weight is less than 4 500 kg including two axles;

A motorized dwelling;

A work vehicle: road vehicle only to accomplish work and built to circulate to a maximum speed of 70 km/hr.

A service vehicle: vehicle arranged for the supplying, repairing or the towing road vehicles;

A moped/scooter;

A farm tractor.
