I am a new resident and i have a driver license in my country. What are the steps to convert my former driver license?
 Answer:
New residents who hold a valid driver's licence issued by their jurisdiction of origin may drive the corresponding class of vehicle their licence authorizes: a passenger car, a motorcycle, or a moped for the first 90 days following their arrival in Québec. Afterward, the requirement to hold a Québec licence applies.
Terms of exchange vary according to the country that issued your driver's licence.
Should your jurisdiction of origin be in the list below, you qualify for driver's licence exchange without testing, as these have standards similar to Québec's:
- Austria
- Belgium
- France
- Germany
- Great Britain: England, Scotland, Wales
- Japan
- Netherlands (The): Holland, Dutch Antilles (St. Martin, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sabat and St. Eustache)
- Republic of Korea (South Korea)
- Switzerland
- Taiwan
- Turkey
Should your jurisdiction not be listed above, you are eligible for licence exchange, but with testing.
